Happy Cleaning

Warning to provisional license holders looking for learner driver insurance.

About 8 months ago my daughter decided that she wanted to learn to drive, I said i would learn her to drive providing she paid her own insurance. For the first 2 months she used my car insured through collingwood.co.uk (highly recommended).

I suggested that she buy a small car and insure it with her own policy that way she would build up  her own no claims discount. She took notice and bought a nissan micra, Now the search was on.

After days of searching we settled on Quinn Direct an insurance company based in ireland the premium was very competative so she paid a deposit and set up a direct debit, at the time i asked what would happen when she passed her test, I was informed that they would simply ammend the policy. (here is the under handed price increase).

My daughter passed her test a few days ago, I rang Quinn Direct to inform them that she had passed her test, They immediately doubled the premium wanting £277 per month for the remaining installments. (An extra £1108)

I asked if i could pay a lump sum to reduce the installments, They simply refused, Now we had to start a search for a new insurance policy all over again.

She has lost 6 months no-claims she had built up and they are even asking for £35 to cancel the policy.

If you are looking for learner driver insurance AVOID Quinn-direct no matter what they quote. Find a reputable company.
